(Sssk#45) Odnila.G is the solo project of Matt Galindo, guitarist of prog-jammers Sabertooth Cavity and member of local big-band The Free Pop Arkestra.  This tape, his second, is like that other universe where a young Carlos Santana finds a pitch-shifter and a dozen overdrive pedals and recorded an album but the tape went in reverse. The Late Severa Wires/Father of the Flood - split -Cdr -(Sssk#39) A 70 minute disc featuring the extreme varieties within the New Mexico experimental music scene. Father of the Flood is a relatively new project in the desert noise scene and is one of the loudest; One man who is chained to (or they are chained to him) huge Sunn cabinets and upright piano. A listener for listeners. Since 2002, The Late Severa Wires are the hub of new music in Santa Fe. Drums, guitars, all sizes of basses and a turntablist, showing up to a 'meeting of the minds' with swords, axes and spiked bats. Quite possibly one of the most intriguing live acts in the Southwest. We are treated in the second half of this split to a live set of the Wires recorded at KFJC studios in California. We are happy to release this snapshot of NM noise circa 2008. In some instances, trumpets and distorted drums bitch it out, in others, songs in the central NM style, only slooooooooww and ugly. At worst, all acappella tunes, but gets so distorted, that you might turn it off before the 20 minutes is up. Limited to 50. Occasional Detroit - Prayer Packages -cs-19 (Sssk#35) Occasional Detroit: One of the most original, insanely entertaining, and loudest acts to ever call Albuquerque home. This Michigan duo (occasional trio) had toured the U.S. many times over before settling down here. If they'd ever seen this band live, 'damn!', many rappers and punkrockers and preachers would just quit. Lobsterbreath - Black Lagoon -Cdr - (Sssk#34) One of the stranger Sssk releases, this disc by the mysterious Lobsterbreath of central New Mexico assumes that your auditory memory is on par with post-2009 internet or the Library of Congress. Dreamy at times, all the way to in-your-face lifts, not the 'identify-this!' kind of collage,... testing your deja-VU meter all the way to the end. Old Man - CDr (Sssk#31) One of the greatest bands of 21st-century Albuquerque history thus far. This short-lived trio recorded 15 songs for this full-length but the band broke up immediately after its final session. Members went to on to become Fando or dropped off the face of the Fifth World. Some of these songs, inexplicable psychodeathbillysurfblasts, have been burned and traded for years, but have now been remixed/smokemastered and packaged by the Brothers Day and have now decided to be officially released. Cobra//group - Brujas (cdr) (Sssk#30) The second full-length release by the largest experimental band in the Southwest U.S., this album was recorded in the fall of 2007 at various abandoned locations around Albuquerque,,,in total darkness. It is not known by the core group who exactly is on the tracks or who plays what instrument. Strangers were invited to walk in the room at any session and leave without a trace. Extra tape recorders were set to record, but with no input to attract the home ghosts. Some sessions were broadcast via radio and fed-back into the haunted houses to make the badloop. Some sessions started with one person alone in a room, turned the lights out, grew to twenty in the room, turn the lights on after 3 hours and no one was there. Silkscreened digipak - limited to 150 copies. Almost an hour and a half of music on a black on black cdr. Best when listened to while alone. $8.00 ppd (Sold Out!)
Death Convention Singers/ Dirty//Birdies -Split 7" Lathe Cut (Sssk#29) Bad news... It is looking like Cobra//group is breaking up......... Introducing the Death Convention Singers, like a doomed doo-wop group, shyness amplifried one-thousand times. Churchfires - Maladroit (cdr or cassette) (Sssk#28) NEW!!! In the olden-times, from the time when human-sapienors began to build boats and all the way up until Jan 1st 1900, there were pirates who, not as plunderers, but rather as explorer/traders, sought out valuables from one land to trade with another. These people, The Great Pirates they are called, eventually became the Monopoly players of a greater scheme, as unconscious butterknives, spreading 'round the best treasures of each land so that they became one swirled tie-dyed bandana. The cultures were found to be self-entropic at best, and at worst were the reflective taste of these traveling seafolk. As far as I know, Churchfires is one of those Pirates. Mammal Eggs- Hyeah -c-20 (Sssk#27) Albuquerque band of guitar, voice, violin and drums. Most bands don't even CARE about the meter changes that this band runs though. Those are usually the ones that are all, "Fuck Rush". It's no secret, 'Americana' is an ugly word. $5.00 (Sold Out!)
Christ With Braces - Nuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles. 3'' cdr (Sssk#26) This was actually supposed to be released a year and a half ago, but the band lost the ADAT tapes they were working with. Now they've been found. 11 songs in 21 minutes, this 3"cdr was recorded at the now-extinct East Hollywood Il Corral hideout. Christ With Braces is either a 4-piece that can't play well together or a 20 member band that sounds like 1 drummer with a synth. Hell, a surf band about to break up. $5.00 postage paid (sold out )
Fando - The Noisebeard -c-19 (Sssk #25) Two sets of brothers, more incestuous than Fleetwood Mac ever was, and twice the notes. As much metal in their veins as C3PO with a Voivod t-shirt. (ex-Conroy Chino, Pig Heart, Millard Fillmore, Proudass, Old Man, etc, et,c,etc. One of the best bands in ABQ right now. period. $5.00 (Sold Out!)
Alchemical Burn/Nano Element - split-c-20 (Sssk#23) A 20 minute cassette, featuring the main project of on A side + a mish-mash of side projects on the other, all steming, in way or another, from the mixer of Ken Cornell. "Songs" range from the harsh to the Technotronic, if one can get away saying so, without conjuring prejudice. If you know this man's music, it is never the same. Like a soundman pissed at his boss. Jessica Billey and Bud Melvin of The Grave of Nobody's Darling, Cobra//group, the Lowlights, and many others, when alone together are Lionhead Bunny.
