BIO: Lorin Edwin Parker currently resides and works in the Los Angeles, CA area. He works as an artist, audio engineer and instructor in sound and audio. Parker is currently a faculty member at the Art Institute of California, Los Angeles. Parker specializes in the creation of sound , performance art, music composition, sculpture and interdisciplinary arts. He is also renown as an instrument builder and designer of interactive technology. Lorin has a background as a professional sound designer, audio engineer, bassist (contrabass and electric), synthesist and thereminist. He also is an avid DIY enthusiast and knows his way around a workshop. Parker has worked with a variety of artists including, Andre Vida, Clay Chaplin, Mark Trayle, Gregory T.S. Walker, Rich O'Donell, Jay Stuckey, Cooper Baker, Sarah Seelig, F. Lewis Keller, Jacob Feinburg, David B.C. Leikam, Lewis Keller, E. Kim and Phillip Stearns. He also has worked on a number of Television, Film and Theater productions creating sound design, original music, foley and post production audio for film. Parker's aesthetic is an anachronistic confluence of the cultural and technological past, present and future. He draws extensively from Victorian and Edwardian culture and design, blending his historical tilt to re-contextualize modern technology and arts. Parker has studied with Gregory T.S. Walker, Mark Trayle, Sara Roberts, David Rosenboom, Nicolas Collins and Pauline Oliveros. He also wishes to thank Paul DeMarinis and Michael Pissaro for their critical contributions. Lorin holds a B.Sc. from the University of Colorado and an MFA in sound art from the California Institute of the Arts. "21st century art should be progressive, fun, accessible, even humorous.
