On October 15th of 2005, thirty five attendees met at Yoga West. We brainstormed five major categories of potential activities for our group, with plans to have smaller groups begin by focusing on just three of these. Many attendees chose one of these three areas to participate in.

This is the prioritized list of ideas we came up with:

1) Continuing Education
- Local IKYTA workshops to further teacher education
- Guest teacher workshops
- Collective teaching opportunities or events
- Mentoring relationships could be facilitated
- Workshop on deciphering the confusing areas of our manuals
- Workshop focusing specifically on how to teach children

2) Communication Network
- Local teacher's internet blog
- Yoga tech support to help answer questions that come up for teachers
- A collective teacher's sub list
- A posted collective list of LA's kundalini yoga classes
- List of teacher specialties and availability
- Agreement of our intended mission as LA's KYTA, and implementation of that

3) Teacher Exchange & Support
- Regular Meetings
- Teachers teaching each other for practice, support, and exchange of
information
- Scheduled collective meditation
- coordinated individual meditations at agreed upon times
- Collective Sadhana for teachers
- Community Class teaching opportunities for new teachers
(was this right? or was it...)
- Class for the community of teachers
- Yogi Bhajan Video Class

The additional areas we hope to eventually address include the following:

4) Outreach / Public Relations
- relationship with local Chambers of Commerce
- Group spokespeople and a PR group
- Formalized group name (IE required for incorporation)
- Formalized membership structure
- Marketing our yoga
- A sense of collective identity for all of southern CA's KY teachers,
and clearly presented public presence
- City-wide KY event

5) Seva / Celebration
- A Celebration Committee
- More interaction & bridging of the Sikh and Yoga Communities

As you probably are realizing, many of the 4th and 5th heading topics
will follow if we focus on the first three areas. Our next step is to
gather these three groups together to plan our future agenda...

LAKYTN is grateful for the continued support of the Guru Ram Das Ashram, International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association, Yoga West, Golden Bridge Yoga, and Karuna Yoga, as well as the participation of the teachers throughout Southern California.
