North Pole is a musical translation of a panoramic photograph realized in Max/MSP. A graphic score based on the photograph A Day of Never Setting Sun by Emil Schulthess and Emil Spühler was created and interpreted to determine the pitch of four sine oscillators and control modulation of these oscillators. Pitch is assigned according to the contours of the landscape and the resulting tones are modulated based on the height of the sun.
