Bob Clendenen Short Bio
Bob Clendenen's Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy strives to illuminate, develop, and diversify the
student's thought process in relation to music composition, performance, and
presentation/production. I present a broad information base touching on a number of major musical styles, their similarities and differences, and ways to effectively represent and produce each style. This includes a thorough introduction to concert management and technology (sound, lights, etc.). As a composer and performer I am committed to music by living artists and work to teach each student to find their voice. This methodology includes identifying the properties of their inner voice (including historical context) and the psychological gesture/intent inherent in their technique and expression. I teach ways to think structurally about music so the student can consciously and unconsciously work on their art in a productive and holistic fashion, integrating development with effective performances and recordings.
